Symbolic
Data sequence should match pattern sequence figuratively.
“112233” or “AA11XX” is equivalent.
What AABBCC finds with EXACT ON:

What AABBCC finds with EXACT OFF:

Data sequence should match pattern sequence exactly.
Useful to find birthday (01061992 or 19920601), “Pi in Pi” (141592) or other numbers of interest.
Algebraic
Data sequence should follow the digit difference in the match pattern.
This is a “difference” pattern (= “002244”) that finds:
557799, 880022, aaccee, AACCEE,...
This is a descending “difference” pattern that finds:
664455, 119900, ddbbcc, TTRRSS...
